The fun begins

We enrolled Adrian in t-ball and he had first game yesterday.  He's playing with other 3-4 year olds so the rules and the way the game is played is a little different.  For one thing, no one keeps score.  At this beginning stage the most important things are socializing, having fun, and getting the basics of baseball.  All of the dads were out there standing behind their kids encouraging them to run for the ball when it was hit.  There isn't a pitcher in t-ball, no one is really standing on and covering 1st-3rd base, and there aren't any outs.  Each team gets to run through everyone once per inning so they get a chance to hit and then they switch.  Technically there were only 2 innings the entire hour but in that time each kid on both teams got to bat twice.

After the game they cheered for the other team and high-fived each other.  At this age this is the cutest thing ever. Some of these kids are so confused as to what they are supposed to do and where they are supposed to run.  There is a lot of parental involvement and coaching.  Everyone watching is a coach at this point.

Funny side note, they have practice once a week on Monday nights and I was telling Adrian that daddy was going to take him while I made dinner and put Evan to bed.  He said no, that I was supposed to take him.  I strongly emphasized that daddy is a baseball player and has been most of his life and he would be the better parent to take him to practice.  Adrian's reasoning was that I should take him because I coach soccer so I must know more.  Kid cracks me up.  I'm the least athletic person ever and I'm just lucky to coach the kids I do.

Adrian's first time up to bat he hit the ball and stood there.  He's doesn't know to drop the bat and run to first base yet.  So, we all yelled at him to drop it and run.  He finally did and then stood on 1st base.  Next person came up to bat and hit the ball.  We told Adrian to run and he started running back towards home plate.  After some redirection he made it to second base.  His second time up to bat he hit the ball really hard, Jon-Paul says it was the hardest hit of the whole game.  This time his base running skills were better.

I think he liked the snack afterwards just as much as he liked playing.  He got a capri sun, chocolate granola bar, and some cheezits.  I think he's maybe had 2 capri suns his whole life.  He does not need that sugar.  Plus, the granola bar was dipped in chocolate not just chocolate chip.  I guess this sort of stuff once in a while is ok, but it scares me to think that some of these kids probably get these snacks on a regular basis.  I'm not saying we never have treats and yummy things because everyone needs sweets once in a while, but I know you can't buy an individual capri sun but rather a box of 10-12 that someone is going to drink.  Wow, sorry about that rant.

Here are a few pictures of his first game...

While we work...

The highs this week in Phoenix were record breaking.  Low 80s and high 70s.  Short sleeve weather.  Of course Jon-Paul and I spend our days stuck in rooms earning money, but our children get to spend time with grandparents playing in leaves.  Lucky them.  Thankfully my mom takes pictures once in a while when she thinks of it.

Evan is getting really good at sitting up unsupported for long stretches.  Independence is on the horizon.

New

New url. New template. Almost a new year. I blog for myself because I know very few people read this, but it is still a shame that is has been 7 months since my last post.

Our last url was kleintrio which made sense because there were 3 of us. Since adding a fourth to our family I thought it was time to change it. I wanted something that meant 4. I toyed with kleincuatro which is 4 in Spanish, but no me gusta. I was trying to think of words that start with a k or a k sound to go with our last name. Fittingly I thought of the word crew. Now, we aren't a full 8-man crew, and will NEVER be one, but we could compete as a 4-man team. I am the only person in this family that has actually been on a real crew team, but maybe one day the boys might try it out. It is a very athletic sport to say the least. That is the one and only time I would consider myself even close to being in any shape at all.

Adrian is about to turn 4 in a couple weeks, although I think he could pass for at least 5 or 6 already. He is going to start playing t-ball in January. Jon-Paul could not be happier. Evan is 7 months old and sweet as ever. He has 2 bottom teeth and 2 top teeth are peeking through. He rolls everywhere but will not get up and crawl. Takes after Adrian in that regard. He is the best sleeper too just like Adrian. In fact, last night he went to bed at 5:30pm and didn't wake up until 8:30am this morning. Can we say growth spurt?

I only have 4 more school days with these fun(?) 6th graders, and then 2 weeks off. Our house is lacking in the Christmas decoration department. We have lights on the outside of the house at least. Adrian and I will have fun decorating inside on my time off. We really need to get our Christmas pictures taken and sent out. I am the queen of procrastination.

Evan Joshua - 5/7/10

I've been MIA the last few months, but all I've really been doing is growing a human being. We were expecting our second son to be delivered via c-section on Friday May 7, 2010. We arrived at the hospital around 7:30am and surgery was scheduled for 9:30am. It was pretty uneventful as we got dressed in our cute gowns and covers. The surgery itself was quite unpleasant, but the outcome was beautiful.

Once again I grew a big boy. He was 9lbs. 2 ozs and 20 inches long. Only 4 ounces less that Adrian's birth weight. Plus, he was a week earlier than Adrian. I was surprised I was smiling in this picture after all the pain I just went through.

Adrian was allowed to come see him right away.

It was love at first sight.

Daddy on diaper duty.

Even smiling about it.

He has the chubby cheeks too.

Only hospital worthy picture worth posting. I will NOT be putting any of me on here. I was less than gorgeous to say the least.

Adrian is in love.

He doesn't like it when he cries so much.

Kisses are his favorite thing to give him.

All 3 of my boys passed out after a Sunday afternoon baseball game. Now why wasn't I napping too!?!

He's finally waking up for longer periods of time and opening his eyes. We got ourselves another puppy.

Very thoughtful here. I think I'll be using this one in his birth announcement. It's just too cute. I'm in love and can't stop taking pictures. He is wonderful. I just wish he wouldn't sleep so much during the day. A little confused on that one.

Holiday/Birthday baking

Catching up today. Once school was out for winter break I finally had the time to bake some Christmas cookies. Adrian just loves to help! I have a little trouble giving up the control, but overall he did a great job.

Jon-Paul did the icing.

I also made Adrian's birthday cake in the process. Too bad it didn't look the same the next day. At least I have digital proof that it was pretty at one point.

Sedona weekend

I just realized that I started this post over 2 months ago and never published it. The pictures weren't uploading quick enough so I think I gave up. Anyway, the week before Thanksgiving we went up to Sedona for the weekend. My parents let us use some of their timeshare time. It was the first weekend of that Christmas lights display. We went goofy golfing, saw the ducks in the creek, and saw all the Christmas lights. It was a very relaxing weekend.

October 4, 2009

On October 4 my daddy turned 60! I cannot believe he is 60. He definitely does not look like it at all, and he sure plays with Adrian like he's 30. I think Adrian helps keep him young. Proof that he is still just a little boy himself, we asked what he wanted to do on his big day and he picked lunch and goofy golfing....lol. It was a nice day, not too hot, and I even think he beat all of us.

Adrian being very stylish on the drive over.
Putting away.

Adrian is getting better every time we go.

Best buddies!

Happy Birthday Dad!
